Full time courses

runs from January every year until the end of November.

The year is divided into four quarters – comprising roughly ten weeks each. Every day is packed with lectures, practical work and assignments. Field trips during the year provide loads of excitement and adventure. A further 6 month practical in the student's specialised field: Photography, Graphic Design or Communication, with successful evaluation twice monthly is required for an accredited VSS / Photography Diploma.

Part time and Short courses

have been developed for students who only want to do one or more aspects of the visual skills course. These courses range from one to ten weeks in duration.

All students have to present their work at an exhibition during which their portfolios are evaluated and assessed by professionals and academics. Certificates are awarded to those who are successful.

Correspondence courses

have been developed to reach students throughout the world.

With correspondence you study at home, in your own time and at your own pace.

When you register for the correspondence course (which can be done at any time during the year), you will receive your first comprehensive lectures and materials you need to do the practical. Once your have studied the study material and completed the practical assignment, you send it back to the school for assessment. You will receive thorough feedback on your work and with that the next study material.

With each practical assignment you will start building up your portfolio. All students' work will be exhibited at the school twice a year. Professionals and academics are invited to evaluate and assess the exhibited work. At the end of the course, a final exhibition will be held during which each student exhibits his/her final portfolio.

Shorter courses on visual skills subjets such as Photography & Graphic design have been developed to make them available anywhere in the world. These courses provide you with comprehensive tuition material (either online or by post), practical materials (with comprehensive tutorials) and feedback on each assignment so that you can measure your progress.

All correspondence students are welcome to join the full time students on field trips and will receive regular newsletters with updates on upcoming events.
